NITI Aayog Chair

The Economic Bulletin is a quarterly publication of NITI Aayog Chair which makes detailed economic analysis based on periodic data from different sectors of the economy of Rajasthan. It also proposes set of measures that can further augment the desired outcomes for different sectors, leading to sustainable development.

Last published issue of NITI AAYOG CHAIR "Economic Bulletin" was titled "Women Entrepreneurship in MSME Sector of India".

This issue has highlighted that the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in India stands as a cornerstone of economic growth, fostering employment, industrialization, and socio-economic development. With 120 million people employed, it's the second-largest employment provider, especially in rural areas, aiding in mitigating regional imbalances and fostering equitable distribution of income. Contributing 8% to GDP and 45% to merchandise exports, MSMEs exhibit resilience and operational flexibility, maintaining a balanced trade scenario.

Recent government measures, including collateral-free loans and credit guarantee schemes, have supported the MSME sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, concerns arise regarding the exclusion of micro-enterprises due to eligibility criteria and budgetary cuts affecting small, rural, and traditional enterprises, questioning the inclusivity of government support, particularly for women entrepreneurs.

However, challenges such as societal biases, limited financial access, and family obligations persist, hindering success of the women entrepreneurs and economic contributions. Addressing these challenges requires a multi-pronged approach, including policy advocacy, financial partnerships, technological leverage, skill development, and work-life balance promotion.

Next issue is titled as "Sustainable Development Goals: Viksit Bharat, Viksit Rajasthan" and focuses upon issues pertaining to challenges for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Rajasthan.
