| The City -JAIPUR |
Jaipur, known as the Pink City, was founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest ruler of the Kachhawaha clan, the astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh.
This remarkable city was considered a marvel of town planning and drew the peace-loving merchants and craftsmen to its wide streets and mohallas, which were earmarked for them. The Pink City, is full of things to see and do. There are impressive monuments, an excellent range of handicrafts, a wide variety of cuisine and entertainment that can keep you enthralled for days.
![]() | City Palace of Jaipur, the main palace is an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal architecture.
The vast palace complex occupies one seventh of the walled city of Jaipur. Originally built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, additions have been made to the palace complex by many of his successors. |
Hawa Mahal, Palace of the Wind, is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur. It is an integral part of the City Palace- an extension of the women's chambers, standing away from the main complex. This five storey building of unusual architecture is a stunning example of Rajput artistry, made of red and pink sand stone, beautifully outlined with white borders and motifs painted with quick lime. | ![]() |
![]() | Amber Palace is situated in Amber, the former capital of the Kachhwaha Rajputs, on a hillside overlooking Maotha lake, 11 km from Jaipur on the Delhi - Jaipur road. Some of the noteworthy architectural marvels in the complex are Diwan-E-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Jai Mandir with its exquisite mirror work, Diwan-E-Aam, Sukh Niwas, Shila Mata Temple, Kali temple and Kesar Kyari, the well laid out garden. |
